Johnson City Schools hosted a Southern Tier Math Collaborative (STMC) today with the goal of connecting teachers from multiple districts in the region to study children’s mathematical learning through class investigations. The endeavor was designed and facilitated by Dr. Kara Imm, an independent consultant and adjunct assistant professor at Hunter College School of Education, in partnership with the New York State Master Teacher program, Southern Tier. Math teachers from Chenango Forks Central School District collaborated with middle school and high school math teachers to observe and study some of our classrooms in an effort to gain insights into more effective teaching methods.
On Tuesday, some of our staff visited CF to observe classrooms at the elementary level.
