JCHSThe Johnson City Central School District, working alongside the Johnson City Police Department, has issued the following statement.

This morning, the Johnson City Police Department responded to a stabbing incident at the Johnson City High School. As a result, the building was immediately placed on lockdown. The incident occurred before the start of the school day but on school grounds. School District personnel and the Johnson City School Resource Officer had the situation under control within seconds.

During the incident, an 18-year-old victim suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to UHS Wilson Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.

The suspect, a 15-year-old juvenile, was taken into custody and is being held at the Johnson City Police Department pending his arraignment.

The district cannot comment further as it is an ongoing investigation involving a juvenile student.

As always, the safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. We appreciate the response and actions from all of those involved that brought this situation to a swift conclusion.
