On Saturday, February 3, our small but fierce Wildcat Science Olympiad team competed at the Southern Tier Regional Competition at Ithaca High School with 16 other teams. The competition consisted of 18 different STEM-related events.
Congratulations to Abigail Elliott, Zuni Ibrahim, Amelia Ross, Nate Rice, and Basma Azeem, for an amazing performance. Abigail and Zuni received first-place medals in the Robot Tour event, and Abigail and Nate received first-place medals in the Write It Do It event. Amelia won 4th place in the Wind Power event.
Under the guidance of high school science teacher and coach Chris Ruston, the team began preparing in October by building and programming robots, rubber band-powered airplanes, and windmill turbines and studying for several written events.
