We thank everyone who attended Wednesday's annual Civic Engagement Fair at the high school.
The event, now in its third year, gave students enrolled in the “Citizens in Action” elective class the opportunity to display their research projects that focused on community issues of interest.
This year’s topics included Literacy Rates, Academic Success in AP Classes, Substance Abuse Relapse, Crime Rates in Broome County, Homelessness, The Beautification of Johnson City, Marijuana, Vaping & Nicotine, and Factors That Contribute To Students’ Academic Success in JCHS.
The students compiled much of their data from interviews with students, staff members, local politicians, and experts in their field of research. Earlier in the school year, the students discussed their findings in classroom presentations with staff members, invited guests, and classmates to gather feedback.
