Christine Marion from the Broome County Health Department, Johnson City Community Engagement Officer Jay Peets, and Broome County Sheriff's Office Deputies Ed Hlebica and John McLaughlin visited Trish Carpenter’s Street Law classes in the high school last week to discuss driver safety. They spoke about the various factors that can inhibit good driving, such as drug and alcohol use, cell phone distraction and drowsiness. The class took part in challenges using special goggles that simulated the varying degrees of being under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. Activities included trying to walk a straight line, catch a ball and multitasking.
