Students participate in fun STEM enrichment camp

STEM campFifteen of our young Wildcat students recently participated in the Be Amazed STEM Enrichment Camp at the elementary school. With the guidance of teachers Chel-ana Shupp and Laurie Whitney, students  explored a range of activities involving solar power, chemical reactions and physics. This included learning how to make a solar oven to bake S'mores!  Another activity involved experimenting with materials to protect eggs from breaking from a second-story window drop. The students also experimented with making plastic out of milk curds, making homemade ice cream in zip-lock bags and designing catapults.  If that wasn't enough, the group was also presented with an additional challenge to create a Pringle ring using one can of Pringles chips. With lots of patience and a steady hand, one student was able to successfully complete the task, while others came very close to completing the task.  What an amazing opportunity for our young minds at Johnson City Elementary School!
