Message from the Superintendent - Sept. 17
Dear Wildcat Community,
I am sharing a message from Rebecca Stone, Superintendent of Broome-Tioga BOCES, regarding an online threat that targeted a BOCES. Out of an abundance of caution, our district contacted the Johnson City Police Department regarding the matter.

Message from Rebecca Stone to BT-BOCES families:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Earlier this morning, we became aware of a social media threat that mentioned BOCES. Due to the timing, students enrolled in full-day programs had already arrived for the day. We canceled the morning CTE (Career and Technical Education) classes on the main campus, which had yet to arrive, to lessen the traffic while we obtained more information.
The Broome County Sheriff’s Department was notified and has been conducting an investigation. We have since learned that the threat originated from the Elmira area and was deemed non-credible. It was connected to another BOCES, and there is no current threat to our campus.
With this new information, we will resume our normal schedule for all programs, including afternoon CTE classes, and all other activities will continue as planned.
Please know that the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. Anyone who has further information or receives any information should notify the Broome County Sheriff’s Office directly. We took action earlier today to ensure everyone's security, and we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Rebecca Stone
Superintendent of Schools
