High School Business teachers Trish Carpenter and Joe Schieve took a group of 16 business students to SUNY Broome Community College for an Entrepreneurial Youth Summit today. It was a day of entrepreneurship workshops, focusing on technical skills, professional development, and soft skills. Our students collaborated with peers from other schools and were mentored by local business leaders. The afternoon concluded with groups pitching and presenting business design ideas that are ready to launch.
We congratulate the following JC students for being a part of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place-winning teams:
1st Place: "607 On the Run" (Connor Gaughan and Malaz Farag represented JC)
2nd Place: "Community Hub" (Sommara Turk and Violet Collins-Moore represented JC)
3rd Place: "Wearable Thrift Fine" (Tyshawn Rowland represented JC)
The Entrepreneurial Youth Summit, or EYS, is an intensive “start-up boot camp” that challenges high school students to design a ready-to-launch business idea, all in one day. It is open to all high schools in Broome County and all grade-level students. EYS helps to enhance students’ business skills as well as sharpen personal skills needed in the business world.
