Student AmbassadorsToday, 5th-grade student ambassadors AJ Rivera, Skilynn Colon, FaLeicia Morales, Shaela Minus, Sarah Khan, Leah Doski, Arshman Ali, Abuzar Dhandhu, Sufyan Rehman, Maddilee Hulbert, Musa Toombs, and Brienna Seeley, accompanied by Assistant Principal Jacqueline Cash, JC School Resource Officer Dennis “PJ” Pavelski, and Teaching Assistant Ashlee Putman, visited Walmart in Johnson City to shop for items to make care packages for retired veterans. With $300 to spend, courtesy of the local JC Events Committee, the students searched for blankets, water bottles, activity books, socks, and snacks. Once the items are organized into care packages, they will be delivered to vets at the Endicott Legion in honor of Memorial Day.

Throughout the school year, the 12-member student ambassadors help plan monthly assemblies and create challenges for 4th- and 5th-graders that connect to the word of the month. To become a member, interested students must fill out an application early in the school year and provide two teacher recommendations, explaining why they would be an excellent fit for the program. “They are role model students who help our school become a better place and advocate for student needs,” added Assistant Principal Cash.
