Some of our 2nd-,3rd-, 4th- and 6th-grade classes met two war veterans and an active-duty soldier today.
World War II veteran Mr. Harold Gary spoke about his time serving as a flight engineer and machine gunner in the Navy from 1942-45. His duties included flying over the Atlantic Ocean patrolling for enemy German submarines. Of special note: Mr. Gary will be 102 later this month!
Marine Sergeant Cara Tilton (with her service dog) served from 2001-2010 and worked on weapons systems of aircraft and helped build rockets and bombs. Her time in the military included serving in Kuwait, Iraq and Japan.
Marine Corporal Charbel Yammine is currently serving active duty while also earning his college degree. Yammine is an infantryman and part-time machine gunner.
We thank these three military personnel for visiting our school, sharing stories with our students and protecting our country!
