Last night the district was made aware of an alleged threat against Johnson City Central Schools in a social media post.  Due to the quick and proper actions of two students who notified their parents, the district was informed immediately along with Johnson City police. Their actions led to a swift response from authorities and the school, which ultimately dispelled the post as a non-credible threat.

I want to thank the students and families who reported the alleged threat to district personnel and the authorities. The Johnson City CSD takes every threat seriously.  Anyone, including students engaging in or participating in the spread of threats of violence, may face possible suspension and criminal charges if they are found making threats.

We again ask families to speak to their child(ren) about proper online social media behaviors and to never share or spread threatening posts. Rather, we ask they communicate any threatening social media to an adult they trust, or to notify the authorities, so it can be handled accordingly.
