campus viewWe have been made aware of another nationwide trend, where students post a threat regarding gun violence in schools on social media. We believe it originated with TikTok, but it has been seen and shared on Instagram and Facebook as well. The viral threat focuses on a shooting at a school on Friday, December 17. The original threat is believed to have started as a way for students to skip or be excused from school and has morphed into something much more disturbing.

We have been in contact with Johnson City PD and will stay in active communication with them concerning this non-specific threat against schools nationwide. If any further information is received, we will take the necessary and appropriate actions. It is important to note, anyone, including students engaging in or participating in the spread of threats of violence, may face possible suspension and criminal charges if they are found making threats.

We want to thank the students and families who swiftly reported seeing the posts to the building and district administration and we encourage you to speak with your student and let them know that the Johnson City CSD takes every threat seriously.
