On Thursday, May 1, from 4-6 p.m., the Johnson City High School will host its second annual “Citizens in Action” Civics Fair in the large cafeteria.
Students enrolled in the “Citizens in Action” elective class have been researching community issues of interest and sharing their findings in PowerPoint presentations with their classmates and invited staff members in preparation for the fair. This year’s topics include suggestions for enhancing the district’s after-school programs to help young learners, understanding teen mental health, substance use disorder resources, and solutions for New York’s voter turnout. The students compiled much of their data based on interviews with students, staff members, local politicians, and experts in their field of research.
