Black History MonthIn celebration of Black History Month in February, elementary math specialist Mical Williams was a guest reader in Kelsey Palmer’s 3rd grade classroom. Each morning, Mrs. Williams would read a chapter from the book, “The Story of Katherine Johnson,” by Andrea Thorpe, and show students photographs of Katherine Johnson’s life. Honoring an African-American mathematician like Johnson showed these Wildcats that Black history is an important part of everyone’s history and can inspire children to be trailblazers, just like Johnson.
