Representatives from Broome-Tioga BOCES visited Johnson City High School today to speak to interested juniors about its New Visions program for seniors. Through hands-on learning, job shadowing, and rigorous college coursework, students can gain real-world experience in a field of interest before graduation.
Each BOCES New Visions academy focuses on a specific career pathway — Business, Health, Engineering, Law & Government, or Education — connecting students with local professionals, colleges, and community partners. Students can explore their interests, build their résumé, and strengthen leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
As a bonus, students participating in any of the programs will complete their 12th-grade English Language Arts and Social Studies through SUNY Broome Community College Fast Forward, earning both high school and college credit.
The application process includes an essay, teacher and counselor recommendations, and an interview.
For more information, juniors are encouraged to visit their high school guidance counselor.
