Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo and representatives of Cornell Cooperative Extension-Broome County's Ag in the Classroom program visited Ms. Ryan’s 1st-graders today to talk about tomatoes, read a story and share pizza lunchables. Lupardo read the book “Tomatoes for Neela” by author Padma Lakshmi and the class discussion focused on the various types and colors of tomatoes. The students then enjoyed making their own slice of pizza with dough, sauce and grated cheese.
As Chair of the Committee on Agriculture, we thank Assemblywoman Lupardo for her ongoing efforts, like the Farm to School program, to help bring fresh, New York-based food to our school menus.
