Dear parents/guardians of 8th grade students,
We are excited for you and our 8th-grade students as they get ready to transition to high school for the 2022-23 school year. This message is to provide you with important information in regard to the transition.
Currently, our 8th-grade students have been in the process of having classroom meetings with both our middle and high school counselors. Students will have four of these meetings before the end of this school year. In these meetings, our counselors have been providing information about graduation requirements, course selections and overall differences between the middle school and high school. We want students to learn about the high school and make connections with our counselors before they enter 9th grade.
At the middle school, Ms. Eiklor, our middle school counselor, held a virtual parent/guardian presentation on January 24. This presentation provided a timeline of events for students as they prepare for the transition to high school. Here is a link (

One of the upcoming events will be for students to meet individually with Ms. Eiklor for course selections between the end of February and April. If you would like to attend your child's course selection meeting, please email Ms. Eiklor (
[email protected]).
Lastly, on our school district calendar, we were scheduled to have a 9th-grade orientation at the high school on February 9. That orientation will be postponed until August (date and time will be sent out prior). In August, students and families who attend the orientation will meet with staff, have the opportunity to ask questions, and tour the building before we start the 2022-23 school year.
We look forward to working with each of you and your children. If you have any questions related to our transition plans, please feel free to contact me via phone or email.
Fred Deinhardt,
High School Principal
