The objectives of the Music Booster Club of Johnson City High School are to
assist the Director of Music; to promote the development and growth of the Music
Department; to aid in the activities of these groups, and to assist in the
musical and artistic growth of the students who participate in them.
The Music Booster Club awards
three scholarships each year to graduating seniors, pays the registration fees
for the District students who participate in the New York State School Music
Association's (NYSSMA) annual solo and ensemble festivals, and buys the medals
for the students who qualify for them.
The Club participates in many other activities. It supports all musical groups
by coordinating fundraisers and chaperoning local and long distance trips. The
Club assists the Marching Band with the upkeep of uniforms and by making lunches
available during the summer Band Camp. Members of the Music Booster Club play an
important role in the annual musical by helping with costumes and makeup,
building sets, providing and serving food backstage, and producing the program.
Booster Club members also serve as
volunteers at the NYSSMA festivals, at concession stands, and at booths at
Johnson City's annual Field Days.
Any person interested in supporting the objectives of the Organization and its
activities is eligible for membership. There are no dues; membership at the
monthly meetings is not mandatory (although everyone is welcome to attend). What
is needed is assistance with any of the activities. Some members are very busy
during Marching Band season, others are generous in providing refreshments for
the cast, crew, and pit of the musical, and some members work a shift or two at
a concession stand. One of the strengths of this organization is the number of
people who volunteer as their time and conditions permit.
Johnson City has an outstanding music program and the support of parents,
grandparents, and other community members is an essential component in the
Club’s assistance with this success.
For more information about the Music Booster Club, please contact one of the
officers (click on name) or attend one of the monthly meetings.
