Johnson City High School Music Program was selected as a 2008 Finalist for the GRAMMY Signature School award by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Foundation, Inc. JC is one of only 100 high schools nationwide to have been chosen among the top high school music programs in the United States.  The designation is based on the results of a review of audio and videotapes that were submitted to the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Foundation.  These tapes are required to contain representative examples of the school's orchestra, band, and vocal music performing groups as well as copies of programs presented by the music department during the school year. Johnson City is the only public school in America to have received the GRAMMY Signature School award 5 times already.
