Fund Raisers

2007 - 2008 School Year

Music Booster Club Fund Raisers – From the President

1.       Over $500 has been raised at the "outside groups" (i.e., the Barbershop Quartet and the Sweet Adelines) concession stands so far this year.  Again, a big THANK YOU to all of the great volunteers who have helped out.  This is an excellent opportunity especially for first time volunteers.  It is not so hard but very rewarding, and best of all, you get to enjoy the performances as well.  There will be more opportunities in the Spring 2008 timeframe to help out.

2.       Mark your calendars for the May 4th Applebee's Pancake Fundraiser.  More info on this fundraiser will follow in future newsletters.

3.       The scholarship committee has already met once, and anyone is welcome to attend in the future.  We are discussing our "usual" MBC scholarships and possibly adding other scholarship opportunities.

4.       "Wanted advertisement" for storage space, large, dry, critter free space that the MBC can use for storage of their "stuff" that can be accessed easily by volunteers and is reasonably priced.

5.       Two MAJOR upcoming events for the Music Department: the Musical – Beauty and the Beast and NYSSMA. For the musical, we are in need of volunteers in many areas: ticket sales, organizing the program / advertisements, concession stand, t-shirt / flower sales, display board assembly, backstage food table, make up / costumes / hair styling.  There are lots and lots of opportunities to try something new to volunteer at. We especially need volunteers to get involved with the ticket and the program areas.  The 2 - 3 parents that are currently involved with the ticket/program areas are graduating out and the MBC would like to train a "new" volunteer or group of volunteers. For NYSSMA, we will need registration table volunteers, concession stand, photo opportunities, and button table volunteers as well as people to work in the office posting grades and hall monitors.  We will also need student volunteers to man the rooms and to be "runners".
