Johnson
City High School Music Program has been selected as a 2008 Finalist for the GRAMMY
Signature School
award
by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Foundation, Inc.
40 winning schools will be announced in April 2008. JC is one
of only 100 high schools nationwide to have been chosen among the top high
school music programs in the United States. The designation is based
on the results of a review of audio and videotapes that were submitted to the
National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences Foundation. These tapes are
required to contain representative examples of the school's orchestra, band, and
vocal music performing groups as well as copies of programs presented by the
music department during the school year. Johnson City is the only public school
in America to have received the GRAMMY Signature School award 5 times already.

Johnson City have been selected as one of the: In addition, Johnson City has been named to the top 100 music communities in the nation two years in a row and has been selected has one of four schools in the Northeast to be invited to an extended membership with the Kennedy Center Partners In Education Program.
