JCTC Mini Grant

What is a minigrant?
A mini-grant is a sum of money ($500 maximum) awarded to an individual or a group of individuals for the purpose of supporting an educational project or endeavor that has the potential of positive impact on student achievement. These projects typically take place outside the regular school day.

In what ways can minigrant funds be used?
Minigrant funding can be used to pay for the time and materials to design, develop, and implement a project that supports innovative, creative classroom work that is based on current research and aligned to the NYS learning standards. With Board of Education approval, funds can be used for conference registration and related expenses.

Who may apply?
Any individual or group of teachers who are part of the JCTC constituency.

How will minigrants be awarded?
The JCTC Policy Board reserves the right to make minigrant awards based upon the relative merit of each proposal. Criteria used to assess the merit of a proposal include: The clarity of stated outcomes, the plan to achieve outcomes, and the potential impact on student learning.

How will award winners be notified?
Applicants will be notified of their status within one week of the date their application is submitted.

What are some budget and expenditure issues?
It is very important that mini-grant expenditures comply with our district spending procedures. Therefore, any purchase orders using minigrant funds must be processed through the JCTC office. Since minigrant proposals are judged, in part, on the match between budget expenditures and stated outcomes, significant changes in budget plans after a grant has been awarded will not be approved.
