The former Ms. Nachman dominated girl’s athletics during her four years at Johnson City High School.  She received 16 varsity letters during her career; 4 each in Field Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball.    She lead her basketball teams to three STAC championships in 1973, 74, and 76.  During the 1976 season, Sally set a Section IV record by scoring 43 points in one game.  She lead that 1976 team to a perfect record of 18 wins and O defeats, and they added a section IV championship to go along with their STAC championship.  Sally was named to the All-STAC girls’ basketball team in her senior season.  She was also All-STAC in softball and field hockey that year.  She topped off her high school career by leading the 1976 softball team to a STAC and a Section IV championship.  Sally was recognized for her many athletic exploits by being featured on the ‘Faces in the Crowd’ page in Sports Illustrated magazine.  She went on to a very successful college career and she was inducted into the Section IV Athletic Hall of Fame in 1993.  Johnson City is proud to recognize Sally Nachman Van Woert as a member of its athletic hall of fame.
